Remzije Istrefi

Remzije Istrefi holds a PhD in Political Science with a specialisation in International Human Rights Law and International Organizations.


Ms Istrefi finished her studies on International Human Rights Law (L.L.M) at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, USA, after receiving her B.A. at the Faculty of Law at the University of Prishtina. She works as Professor at the Faculty of Law and Department of Political Science of the University of Prishtina.


Ms. istrefi is also a member of the Kosovo Bar Exam Commission.For ten years Ms Istrefi worked as a Human Rights Advisor with the OSCE Mission in Kosovo. Since 1999 she has served as a consultant in different international and national institutions including UNDP, ECMI, KJI and KIPA. In 2008 Ms Istrefi was awarded a Fulbright Exchange Scholarship and spent one semester at the John Hope Franklin Centre for Multidisciplinary Studies at Duke University, NC, USA. Ms Istrefi has conducted research in the field of international territorial administration at the Institute for International Relations of the University of Graz and is actively involved as a researcher in various other research projects.


She has published several scientific articles in the field of human rights and contributed to numerous books published in Europe.In addition to Albanian, Ms Istrefi speaks fluent English and Serbian.
